Acarbose
Acarbose is an oral hypoglycemic agent of the α-glucosidase inhibitor class. The mechanism of the hypoglycemic effect is to inhibit the competition between small intestinal wall cells and oligosaccharides and to reversibly bind with α-glucosidase to inhibit the activity of enzymes, thus delaying the degradation of carbohydrates, causing the slow absorption of glucose in the intestine and reducing the elevation of postprandial blood glucose.
